Fall is here, and that means it’s time to embrace all things comforting and just a little indulgent. While October is often associated with costumes and candy, it’s also the perfect time to enjoy cozy treats that bring people together.

They’re sweet. They’re salty. They’re ridiculously easy to make. And they’re the kind of treat that gets people talking, whether you're bringing them to a cozy gathering, an office potluck, or just treating yourself at home. It’s a playful, savory spin on a childhood favorite, made for autumn moments.

Ingredients

For the Treats

  • 5 cups Rice Krispies Cereal® (off-brand works fine!)
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (real maple syrup preferred) or ½ tablespoon maple extract
  • 10 slices cooked bacon, chopped

For the Maple Frosting

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (real maple syrup preferred) or ½ tablespoon maple extract
  • 3 teaspoons milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels and chop into small pieces. Set aside 2 tablespoons of the bacon for topping.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the maple syrup until well combined.
  4. Add the marshmallows and stir until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Remove from heat and quickly fold in the cereal and chopped bacon.
  6. Press the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
  7. Set aside to cool completely.
  8. In a bowl, mix together all frosting ingredients until silky smooth.
  9. Spread the frosting over the cooled treats.
  10. Sprinkle the reserved bacon on top.
  11. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to make slicing easier.
  12. Slice, serve, and enjoy every bite!
